In addition, a jury of journalists will select the couple who will represent Italy at the Grand Ball of the Debutantes of the Vienna Opera (Wiener Opernball), a Viennese ball held every year on Shrove Thursday.

DEBUTANTE BALL 2026
The Debutante Ball 2026 is the opening ceremony of the Viennese Grand Ball of Rome. The historical representation of the debutante ball is the most spectacular and emotional moment of the Capital’s most prestigious and sought-after charity gala. It is a democratic ball open to young women aged 15 to 24, offering them the thrill of their first ball in the arms of charming cavaliers in full dress uniform, dancing to the notes of Strauss’s most famous waltzes.
The Debutante Ball, understood as a debut into society in 2026, may be anachronistic, but the desire of young women to rediscover ancient values is one of the most current and relevant trends of our time.
Those who choose to take part in the Debutante Ball 2026 are strong, determined girls, curious about life and about themselves—above all, free dreamers capable of challenging the world in order to fulfill their dreams
PARTICIPATING IN THE GRAND BALL
The debutante must be between 15 and 24 years of age.
PARTICIPATION IN THE BALL will be communicated by the Committee to the debutante via email or phone.
Only if the selection is successfully passed, and only after confirmation of participation, will payment of a participation fee be requested.
THE PARTICIPATION FEE INCLUDES
For the rehearsal week:

For the evening of the event:

a Haute Couture gown created for the evening, which will remain with the debutante
